Waiver & cancellation policy.
What you are agreeing to when you register for a class, in plain words. Registering means you accept the terms on this page for yourself and for anyone you register alongside you.
If you need to cancel.
Classes are small. One empty seat is a noticeable share of the room, and materials are prepared per person ahead of time — so the date you cancel matters.
- 14 days or more before
- Cancel for any reason and we refund the registration in full, to the card you paid with.
- Inside 14 days
- We cannot refund the seat — the kit is cut and the place is held for you. You are welcome to send someone else in your place; just tell us who is coming.
- Not able to attend
- Write to us anyway. We would rather hear from you than mark an empty chair, and we will do what we reasonably can.
If we have to cancel.
Rare, but it happens. When the decision is ours, the money comes back to you — we do not keep a registration for a class we did not teach.
- Too few registrations
- Each date has a minimum number of students. If we do not reach it we decide by a set date and let everyone registered know.
- Weather, illness, venue
- Occasionally a class cannot safely go ahead. If that happens we tell you as soon as we know.
- Either way, you are refunded
- When we cancel a class, you get your registration back in full. If you would rather move to another date, we will arrange that instead — your choice, not ours.
The waiver.
Weaving is a physical craft done with sharp tools. By registering you confirm you understand and accept the ordinary risks of taking part, and that you take responsibility for your own safety and for anyone you register on behalf of.
- Sharp tools
- Basketry uses knives, awls, shears and soaked reed. You will be shown how to use each one, but there is real risk of cuts, splinters, and sore hands.
- Water and footing
- Reed is worked wet. Floors and tables get damp during a class.
- Your own health
- You know your hands, back and stamina better than we do. Please tell us before class about anything that affects how you can work, and stop when you need to.
- Allergies
- Natural reed, dyes and cane are in the room. Let us know in advance if any of that is a problem for you.
We keep a first aid kit on hand and we will help with a scrape. We are not able to take responsibility for injury, illness, or lost and damaged belongings beyond what the law requires of us. Follow the instructions you are given with the tools and materials.
Ages, guests & the practical bits.
Some classes carry a minimum age, shown on the class page for that date. A registered adult must accept these terms for anyone under 18, and stay for the session.
Every seat is one person at one workbench. Please do not bring extra guests to watch — space and materials are counted per registration.
Your registration covers your kit, the use of every tool you need during class, and the basket you make that day to take home. Tools stay with us. Extra kits and tools to keep can be added when you register.
We may take photographs during a class for our own website and social media. Tell us on the day if you would rather not appear in them and we will leave you out.

If anything here would stop you booking a class, write to us first — we would rather talk it through than have you guess.
