A reference for the weaving materials, accent colors, stains, and paint finishes used across the collection. Every piece is finished by hand, so each one is a little different.
Weaving Materials
Reed, also known as center cane or pulp cane, comes from the inner core of the rattan palm harvested in the jungles of Asia and Africa. It is the primary weaving material for every basket in the collection.
Handles are made from molded hardwoods, wire with wooden bales or beads, riveted leather strapping, or cotton webbing. Some designs also incorporate sea grass, tulip poplar bark, and maple strips for texture and contrast.
Accent Colors
Baskets with woven accents can be finished in these colorways.

Stains
Stain choice changes depth and tone of the finished reed. We use water-based stains.
Reed is a natural material and no two lengths take colour quite the same way — grain, density and age all play a part. We match the stain you choose as closely as the material allows, but some variation between pieces, and between a finished basket and the swatch here, comes with the territory.

Paint Finishes
Paint finishes use a three-step distressed process: the basket is stained dark walnut, painted, then sealed to give an aged, weathered appearance.
